Staff Update May 2008

Options has appointed two inclusion officers: Barry Devine and Ann Burke.

 Their work is to look for ways of supporting people to get involved with new interests, groups or find work. In doing so they want to get away from pre conceived or stereo typical roles assigned to people with learning disabilities. From this they hope people will build relationships and friendships with their own community.

A fantastic night was had by all at Options 3rd Annual Summer Ball at the Adelphi Hotel in July. The event was well attended by the people we support, Options staff, family and friends. The Mayor of Knowsley and the Mayor of Wirral were also in attendance as was local celebrity Dean Sullivan (Yes Jimmy “ah eh la” Corkhill) from Brookside.
 

 A team from Options went out to Africa to paint and help furnish a community centre in Kenya. The team highlighted what could be achieved by people with learning disabilities; making a positive and lasting contribution to the lives of people in a different country and community.
