A fantastic night was had by all at Options 3rd Annual Summer Ball at the Adelphi Hotel in July. The event was well attended by the people we support, Options staff, family and friends. The Mayor of Knowsley and the Mayor of Wirral were also in attendance as was local celebrity Dean Sullivan (Yes Jimmy “ah eh la” Corkhill) from Brookside.
It was quite literally a magical evening as magicians performed card and illusionary tricks whilst people were waiting for their meals. When it came to going to the bar the Development Managers performed a spectacular disappearing trick themselves.
Richie Smith ( Guinness World Record Holder for the longest magic show) did a great job of hosting the evening and introducing the special guest Dean Sullivan who told a few jokes and drew the raffle tickets - including his own until he realised he had the wrong coloured ticket. Dean also raffled a cake made especially for the occasion made by Mrs Geary who’s daughter Dawn drew the winning ticket and gave Dean a run for his money with wise cracks.
Sofie Carr is not a professional singer but judging by the reaction of the audience it won’t be long before you will be hearing from her in the near future.
The “arrival” of the Abba tribute band made a great impact. Dressed in the obligatory 70s jump suit costumes they took to the stage to perform many of the Abba hits including Waterloo and Dancing Queen. The dance floor was soon full with many people (who shall remain nameless due to libel accusations) made what presumably they thought were the hip moves of the 70s but will probably be the hip replacements of the future.
The evening finally came to an end in the early hours of the morning. A big Thank You must go out to Barbara Lloyd who organised the whole event and made it a great success.
